Do I need to hire an architect?
Not all work requires an architect’s drawing. If an architect’s drawing is necessary, we can help you find an architect, or we can work with customer supplied prints.

How long does a job take to complete?
This depends on the size of the job and amount of work performed. The average time for a complete kitchen remodel can take 4 – 6 weeks.

Who applies for a permit? (Do I need to apply for a permit?)
Taurus Construction will apply for the building permit, if a permit is necessary. Due to the varying costs of permits, the permit fee is not included in our proposal.

What happens if I don’t know exactly what I want?
Taurus Construction can help you if you have questions. We also have designers we work with to help with room designs or color selections.

Do you give a fixed price quote, or do you work on a T&M basis?
We typically prepare a fixed price proposal. However, in some instances it is very difficult to determine a fixed price; in these cases we will work on a time & material basis.

I want to proceed with getting a quote, what’s my first step?
Call our office at (847) 462-1533, or e-mail us to schedule an appointment.

What type of payment options are available?
At this time, we do not accept credit cards. Checks or cash only.

What will my payment schedule be?
We invoice as progress payments, the number of payments depends upon the size of the job. For a kitchen remodel, for instance, we would require a down payment to place the material order (cabinets, countertops, etc). Subsequent payments would be due at the completion of certain aspects of the job, such as framing, rough inspection, drywall. A final payment would be due upon completion of the job.

Can I do some of the work myself?
We will work with you if possible. Liability and warranty issues prohibit us from allowing customers to do certain types of work.

Does Taurus Construction do all of the work, or do you hire subcontractors?
The amount of work we do depends upon the size of the job. We hire out for most specialized trades, including plumbing, electrical, hardwood flooring and painting. This insures that you are receiving professional work from specialized tradesmen.
